Game three of the ongoing BBL (Big Bash League) will feature a clash between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday, December 9. Both sides will be keen on getting a win and getting off to flying starts.
It is worth noting that this will be the second game of the tournament for Brisbane Heat. The side put in a brilliant performance in their first game of the tournament, and taking on Melbourne Stars in the season opener, Heat registered a brilliant win.
Batting first, Brisbane Heat put in a brilliant performance. Usman Khawaja and Colin Munro opened the innings by putting 28 and 99* runs on the board. Marnus Labuschagne scored 30 runs as Heat posted a total of 214 runs in the first innings.
Aiming to defend the target, Brisbane Heat bundled Stars for just 111 runs in the second innings. Mitchell Swepson was the highest wicket taker, taking three wickets each. Michael Neser and Xavier Bartlett took two wickets each with Spencer Johnson, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Paul Walter striking once each.
On the other hand, this will be the first game of the tournament for Adelaide Strikers, and they will be keen on getting off to a positive start. It is worth noting that Strikers had a forgettable campaign in BBL 12.
The side failed to make it to the knockout stages of the tournament as they were eliminated from the group stages of the competition. Playing 14 games in the tournament, Strikers only managed to win five and lost the remaining nine matches.
Finishing in seventh place with 10 points in 14 matches, Adelaide Strikers will hope for a rejuvenated performance and showing in the latest edition of the BBL. However, it could prove to be quite the challenge to defeat Brisbane Heat who got off to a flying start.
