St Lucia Kings and Jamaica Tallawahs will lock horns in the Eliminator of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 on September 20, Wednesday. The match will be contested at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
St Lucia Kings and Jamaica Tallawahs finished the group stage in third and fourth place with ten and nine points, respectively. Both sides locked horns in their final group stage game, in which Jamaica Tallawahs came out victorious.
Speaking of the game, Kings won the toss and invited Tallawahs to bat first. Tallawahs got off to a solid start, despite losing the wicket of Kirk McKenzie earlier. His fellow opener Alex Hales spearheaded Tallawahs innings, scoring an unbeaten century. He amassed 119* off 57 deliveries, including 12 boundaries and seven maximums.
Skipper Imad Wasim also played a significant knock, as Tallawahs posted a mammoth 201/5 in 20 overs. Wasim scored 41 off 24 balls, with the help of three fours and three sixes. Meanwhile for Kings, Roston Chase picked two wickets while Alzarri Joseph and Matthew Forde made one scalp each.
During the chase, the Kings got off to the worst possible start, losing the wickets of both the openers Roshon Primus (5) and Leonardo Julien (7), respectively, in the third over. Mohamad Amir was crucial for Tallawahas, picking these two crucial wickets in the same over. Bhanuka Rajapaksha came in and attempted to steady the innings with Roston Chase, however, the former was dismissed for just 22 runs.
Chris Green was the standout bowler for Tallawahs, as he finished with excellent figures of 4/15 in his four-over spell. Apart from Amir and Green, Imad Wasim and Hayden walsh also picked two and one wicket each as Tallawahs bundled out Kings for a paltry score of 79 runs.
