England outrightly dominated New Zealand in the second ODI to win the contest by 79 runs in a rain-marred affair. In the process, the Three Lions got on level terms with New Zealand in the four-match series. The Jos Buttler-led side posted a modest total of 226 runs after Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran put up invaluable knocks. On the other hand, the Kiwis were restricted to a paltry 147 runs which eventually helped England clinch the contest. Both sides will be gunning to obtain a result in their favour in the upcoming match. As the two sides square off on Wednesday, September 13, we take a look at the top three players from New Zealand to watch out for-
3. Trent Boult
The pacer played a pivotal role with the ball in the second ODI as he claimed a three-wicket haul. In addition to this, he restricted the rival side from scoring the big runs against him as he gave just 37 runs in his seven overs at a solid economy of 5.28. Boult will be eager to add more wickets under his belt in the upcoming game and keep his side ahead in the contest.
2. Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell played a vital knock in the middle order after the top order failed to get a solid start. Just when New Zealand were reduced to 55/3, it was Daryl Mitchell who played a gritty 52-ball 57 which featured six fours and one six. In addition to this, he raised a 56-run stand with Tom Latham which momentarily got his side back into the contest. The middle order batter will be hungry to score big in the next game and keep momentum intact.
1. Devon Conway
Devon Conway slammed an unbeaten century in the first ODI as he got 111 runs off 121 balls in New Zealand’s magnificent win. However, he was unable to follow it with another big knock in the second game as he scored mere 14 runs in his last outing. Conway will look for an improved outing in the next game with a solid knock.
