The upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup in India has added another layer of excitement, leading the BCCI to field a second-string side for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games. Renowned players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be missing from the line-up, paving the way for new stars to shine.
The Asian Games squad has already been revealed, with Ruturaj Gaikwad being appointed as the captain. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener will be joined by the proficient left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh, the dynamic Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and many other talented players.
One cricketer who stole the spotlight during the IPL 2023 was Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) very own Rinku Singh, he is also a part of the Indian squad. His exceptional performance, where he smashed five consecutive sixes against GT, made him a household name in no time. Those awe-inspiring sixes, turning the tide in KKR’s favour, catapulted Rinku to instant stardom.
In a heartfelt acknowledgement of his selection for the Asian Games, Rinku attributed his rise to stardom to that memorable innings.
“My life changed after those five sixes. People knew me, but not to this extent. However, after that glorious display, I gained considerable recognition. It feels truly rewarding,” he said in a video shared by the BCCI on Twitter.

Singh will debut for India in limited overs format in upcoming 19th Asian Games
His family, overwhelmed with joy, eagerly awaits the opportunity to witness him represent India on the international stage. Rinku’s selection marks his debut appearance in the Asian Games, a momentous milestone in his career.
This edition of the Asian Games holds a unique distinction, as India announced squads for both men and women, first in the competition’s history. Cricket, which made appearances in the 2010 and 2014 editions, promises an enthralling spectacle once again.
