A high-octane clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) saw fans erupt in surprise after Suryakumar Yadav unleashed an audacious six off Kagiso Rabada. While Surya is known for his unorthodox strokeplay, this particular maximum showcased his unique style in exceptional fashion.
Suryakumar Yadav’s unconventional shot stuns fans
Despite a promising start, the MI struggled to accelerate their scoring rate. Even Suryakumar, who played a well-paced innings of 78 runs off 53 balls, encountered some difficulties with his timing. A turning point came in the 16th over when Rabada bowled a full toss down the leg side to Yadav on the penultimate ball. In typical fashion, Suryakumar dispatched the delivery for a six over fine leg.

Mumbai Indians edge out Punjab Kings in a thriller
Opting to field first after winning the toss, PBKS managed to restrict MI to a total of 192 runs. MI got off to a promising start, reaching 54/1 at the end of the powerplay. However, Punjab’s bowlers executed a superb turnaround, applying pressure and stifling MI’s run flow in the middle overs.
In their chase, PBKS’ batting order suffered a disastrous collapse, losing four wickets for just 14 runs within the first two overs. Despite valiant half-centuries from Shashank Singh (41 off 25) and Ashutosh Sharma (61 off 28), PBKS were unable to recover, ultimately falling short of the target by 9 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer for MI, taking a crucial 3-wicket haul for just 21 runs in his four overs. This exceptional spell not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also propelled him to the top of the Purple Cap standings with 13 wickets in just 7 matches.
