Shakib Al Hasan, the star all-rounder of the Bangladesh cricket team, has announced his retirement from Test cricket following the upcoming series against South Africa.

This news broke out while Shakib was addressing the media in Kanpur ahead of the second Test between India and Bangladesh.

“I think I have already played my last match in the T20 format. If I get to play in the Mirpur Test, that will be my last Test,” Shakib said in his official statement.

In addition to his impending Test retirement, Shakib has also stepped away from T20 Internationals, further signalling a significant transition in his cricketing career.
