Australia and India are all set to clash with each other in the World Test Championship (WTC) final on June 7, 2023, to be held at the iconic Oval Stadium in London. This will be the maiden appearance of Australia in the WTC final while India will appear in the finals of the distinguished Test tournament for the second consecutive time.

In the Australian side, there are some players who completed their duty for IPL franchises and joined their national team’s camp. Cameron Green, who served Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League 2023, is now in London to reinforce the Australian side against Rohit Sharma and Co. in the mega-event which is scheduled to be held at the Oval.

Ahead of the WTC final, Australian spin wizard Nathan Lyon said that he is impressed with Cameron Green’s booming confidence and showered praises on his young teammate. Lyon feels that Green’s maiden Test ton against India in Ahmedabad and spectacular IPL campaign with Mumbai Indians (MI) have boosted the youngster’s confidence.

While speaking to cricket.com.au, Nathan Lyon said, “His presence around the team has definitely changed after being a part of that IPL and after scoring that hundred in Ahmedabad. He’s growing in confidence and being himself more, coming out of his shell a little bit more around the team”.

The 35-year-old also added, “I think that just comes from being able to hang in there and play the IPL and be around the likes of (Mumbai and India Test captain) Rohit Sharma and these guys to learn off them.”

In the cash-rich league, Green justified his hefty price tag of INR 17.5 crore with his scintillating batting performances for Mumbai Indians (MI). Scoring 452 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 160.28, the Aussie youngster became the third-leading run-scorer for MI in IPL 2023.

Australia will expect Green to turn up against India with both bat and ball

In the big game, Australia will expect Green to step up with both bat and ball against India and help his teammates to get their hands on the prestigious mace. So far, the 24-year-old has played 20 Tests for his national team, in which he has racked up 941 runs and 23 wickets. Against India, Green’s batting numbers are decent as he has scored 371 runs with a ton and half-century in nine innings of six matches.
