Jasprit Bumrah has become a whirlwind of pace and precision, single-handedly propelling India’s undefeated streak in the T20 World Cup 2o24.

Jasprit Bumrah: Team India’s match-winner

He currently reigns supreme in the Super 8 stage, boasting a phenomenal 10 wickets in just 5 matches. But it’s not just the sheer number of scalps – it’s the way he claims them. His economy rate of 3.42 stands unmatched by any other bowler in the competition, showcasing his ability to strangle run-scoring while picking up wickets.

Bumrah transcends the limitations of location. He thrives under pressure, consistently bailing India out in critical moments. This tournament has already seen him rise to the occasion multiple times, leaving opposition batters bewildered and frustrated. His unorthodox bowling action and deceptive variations are a constant challenge, often leading batsmen down the path of dismissal in their attempts to be aggressive. The pressure he creates doesn’t just benefit him – it allows other Indian bowlers to capitalize on the unsettled batsmen and pick up wickets themselves.

The Super 8 stage has been Bumrah’s personal playground. He’s conceded a measly 20 runs in his allotted 8 overs, a testament to his control and accuracy. More importantly, these stingy spells have been accompanied by 5 crucial wickets, further solidifying India’s position on the cusp of a semi-final berth.

Sir Curtly Ambrose lavish praises for Bumrah

Cricket legend Sir Curtly Ambrose couldn’t help but sing Bumrah’s praises.

“Jasprit Bumrah is a different bowler and I am his big fan,” Ambrose remarked on Sports Tak.

“I love watching him bowl because he is unorthodox and not a traditional type of bowler who comes with a long run-up and bowls. He takes a short run-up and it looks like he is walking. Whatever he does after that has a huge impact and he has been doing a great job for Indian cricket. He can swing the ball and generate pace when he wants. So he is a very skilled bowler.”

When asked if Bumrah could win the ongoing T20 World Cup for India, Ambrose recognized the importance of a collective effort to clinch the coveted trophy.

While Bumrah has the skill and ability, cricket is a team game,” the former West Indies speedster remarked.

“He can’t do it alone. If Bumrah does well and does not get the support of the other bowlers. Apart from this, if the batter does not score runs then India can lose. Therefore, this is a team game but despite this, he can play a big and important role in the victory. I believe that Rohit Sharma is a great captain and so is Virat Kohli. Apart from this, Rishabh Pant is a very dangerous player, so Team India looks like a very balanced side.”
