After the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India will lock horns with Australia in a five-match T20I series beginning from Thursday, November 23. The five matches will be played across Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Nagpur and Hyderabad. However, the final two venues of the series are likely to be changed from Nagpur and Hyderabad to Raipur and Bengaluru.
According to reports, there will be modifications to the schedule due to elections and counting in various state Assemblies. An announcement on the same is expected to be made soon by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). However, Cricket Australia (CA) has been informed about the changes to the schedule.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, there’s some construction work going on in the Nagpur stadium in Jamtha and hence it won’t be unavailable for the match. Notably, the BCCI recently wanted to host a senior T20 women’s tournament at the venue but the unavailability of floodlights in the ground forced them to shift it.
On the other hand, state elections will be held in Chattisgarh on November 7 and 17 and the counting will be held on December 3. Furthermore, the Hyderabad Cricket Association has confirmed that the Telangana State Government may not be able to provide security for the fifth match on December 03 forcing it to be moved to Bengaluru.
