Ahead of India’s semi-final clash against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey lauded the bowling unit while analysing the strength of all three pacers. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah has been remarkable in the ongoing ODI World Cup, with 17 wickets to his name while Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj picked up 16 and 12 wickets respectively.

Talking about Siraj’s growth in the last couple of years, Mhambrey emphasized that he understood his bowling and is learning new things in the camp. He also spoke about Mohammed Shami, who has been absolutely incredible since his return to the playing XI in the middle of the World Cup. Mhambrey lauded him and stated that the pacer is extremely difficult to read.

“Shami is someone who has the seam (that hits) straight upright. You never know when Shami hits that seam, which way it’s going to come. Siraj has really kind of grown in the last couple of years. He’s understood his bowling, obviously coming through the ranks. He’s started using different set of skills, the wobble seam,” Mhambrey was quoted as saying by India Today.

Ravindra Jadeja doesn’t give anything away to the batsman: Mhambrey

Ravindra Jadeja has been magnificent in the spin department. He is bowling in the powerplay and taking wickets at regular intervals, which has been key to India’s success. The all-rounder can once again prove to be effective in Mumbai, where the spinning ball troubles the batters at times. Talking about him, Mhambrey stated the 34-year-old doesn’t give away anything to the batters and is very accurate with his line and length.

“His (Jadeja) ability is very simple. Ability to hit the deck, and hit the lengths spot on. Very accurate. Very miserly in terms of the way he goes about his bowling. Doesn’t give anything away to the batsman,” Mhambrey said.

The bowling coach was also full of praises for Jasprit Bumrah, who is India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament. He spoke about Bumrah’s skill set and unique action and lauded him for his incredible comeback after the injury.
