West Indies have named their squad for the upcoming home ODI series against England, set to begin on October 31. Following a recent ODI series loss to Sri Lanka (2-1), the hosts are eager to rebound with a stronger performance against England on familiar territory.
Shimron Hetmyer returns to ODI setup
Shimron Hetmyer‘s return to the ODI squad is the headline change in the West Indies lineup. The left-handed batter, last seen in ODI action against England in December 2023, rejoins the side to strengthen their middle-order batting. Although Hetmyer hasn’t recorded a half-century since his century against India in December 2019, his aggressive style and experience could provide West Indies with a much-needed boost. Hetmyer replaces Alick Athanaze, who struggled in the recent Sri Lanka series with scores of 10 and 1 before being omitted for the final match, which West Indies won.
West Indies squad for England ODIs
The 15-member squad features a blend of experience and youth, with Shai Hope continuing as captain and notable players like Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, and Gudakesh Motie contributing to a balanced side. With Hetmyer back in the mix, West Indies aim to field a lineup capable of matching England’s firepower.
