ODI World Cup – 3 Ind players to watch out for in 1st semi-final

Nov 15, 2023

India playing against New Zealand in a knockout game always provides a thriller and in most cases, a heartbreak. Millions of Indians all across the globe are yet to forget MS Dhoni’s run-out four years back in Manchester and amid that, India will once again take on the Black Caps in the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023.

The Men in Blue are in spectacular form, winning all their nine matches in the group stage. On the other hand, New Zealand started the tournament well but lost its momentum in the middle. However, with a win in their final league game, they once again managed to qualify for the semis and will be aiming to make it to three finals on the trot with a win over India.

Ahead of that match on November 15, here are three players who can steal the spotlight on the big day:

3. Rohit Sharma

India skipper Rohit Sharma is in spectacular form at the moment. He has 503 runs to his name in nine matches and is the fourth-leading run-scorer in the tournament. The opener has managed to give India a blistering start and courtesy of which, the home team have managed to be extremely successful in the powerplay.

2.  Ravindra Jadeja

India’s superstar all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will play a cruical role in India’s semi-final clash against New Zealand. With the surface at Wankhede offering not much turn, Jadeja’s flatter trajectory and straight lines will help India contain, and Jadeja will also look to offer runs with the bat if India lose a few quick early wickets.

1. Virat Kohli

The poster boy of Indian cricket has once again lived up to the expectations and is scoring runs for fun. He is currently the leading run-scorer of the ongoing ODI World Cup, with 594 runs to his name. For India to hold that trophy yet again, Virat will have to be at his absolute best as he is a gamechanger with the bat.
