Both Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes are in contention to qualify for the finals of the competition and hence, either of the teams can’t take a step down. Heat, who are currently placed fourth on the points table can move up to number two with a win over Hurricanes while the Elyse Villani-led side can move up to fifth but they need to be extremely consistent and might have to look at other teams on their road to the final.
The Hurricanes suffered a 57-run defeat in their last match against Sydney Sixers following a dismal performance by their batting unit. Naomi Stalenberg was their star performer with the bat but none of the batters supported her in the middle. Bowlers have done a reasonable job but there’s room for improvement as all their matches will be do-or-die going forward.
When it comes to Brisbane Heat, they defeated Adelaide Strikers by four wickets in their last match. Mignon du Preez was sensational, hitting 60 runs off 49 deliveries while Charli Knott and Amelia Kerr picked up two wickets each. Notably, the Jess Jonassen-led side also defeated Brisbane Heat earlier in the season by six wickets and hence, will be confident of repeating the same when they meet at Allan Border Field on November 15.
Notably, Grace Harris is in remarkable form with the bat and she will be one of the players to watch out for Courtney Sippel has been brilliant with the ball, as she has 10 wickets to her name in nine matches.
