Rasmus Hojlund, the young forward for Manchester United, has said that he is excitedly anticipating his team’s matches versus FC Copenhagen this upcoming season.
During the group stages of the UEFA Champions League this season, the Red Devils were paired with Bayern Munich, Galatasaray SK, and the top-flight Danish team. On Matchday 3 (October 24), United will host Copenhagen before travelling to the Parken Stadium on November 8.
In the summer of 2020, Hojlund made a notable transfer to the Red and Whites’ U19 squad, where he scored 15 goals in 27 games. Prior to receiving a promotion to the senior team the following summer, he also scored twice in two matches for their reserves.
Prior to signing with SK Sturm Graz during January 2022, Hojlund scored five goals across 32 games for Copenhagen.
The matches between Manchester United and the Danish club will thus mark his return to his former home. His interest in the games has also increased because both of his brothers, Emil as well as Oscar Hojlund, play for Copenhagen.
Rasmus Hojlund discussed United’s impending games versus Copenhagen in the following interview with the Danish media outlet BOLD. He said, ‘‘I’m really looking forward to us meeting each other in the Champions League. Of course it’s great to meet your former club. It’s my club at home, but it’s not many times you get to meet your brothers in your life. We have to hope that I play, and they do too, but just that the opportunity arises, I think is cool.’’
When the group-stage drawings were revealed, the 20-year-old stated that he talked with Emil and Oscar. He said, “I called my brothers after the draw. Our parents were a bit divided, because they don’t quite know who to stick with, but my brothers and I were like: ‘Come on!’ It was very cool. We are competitive people, and that is also why we are where we are today.”
