Real Madrid, who are claimed to have “concrete” intentions for a striker by Carlo Ancelotti, have been connected to a spectacular transfer of Kai Havertz away from Chelsea. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who is also aware that Chelsea would be willing to talk about Havertz’s transfer to the Spanish capital, this is the case.

It’s not surprising that former Chelsea manager Ancelotti thinks highly of Havertz given how frequently the two of them have crossed in recent years. Havertz was having a breakout season with his old team Bayer Leverkusen when the Italian took over as Bayern Munich’s manager. Ever since, the two have been on different teams whenever Chelsea and Real Madrid have met within the Champions League over the past two years.

The Chelsea attacker may be able to help the Spaniards if Karim Benzema opts to leave La Liga in lieu of a multi-million dollar Saudi Arabian offer. If the story develops in this way, even Chelsea’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, might not be able to prevent the 23-year-old from leaving the club. This is because, according to Marca, when Havertz completed his transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2020, he expressed his historical sentiments about starring for the Spanish powerhouses.

Around that point, the Spanish newspaper said that Real would be willing to bring Havertz on board as a new player. The Covid epidemic ultimately prevented the Leverkusen player from making his dream transfer, despite his turning down bids from German giants Bayern Munich.

Therefore, Havertz’s agents met with Chelsea and worked out an agreement to transfer to the Premier League. The German international has now shown he can score in crucial situations by scoring Chelsea’s game-winning goal during the 2021 Champions League Final, despite struggling in front of goal last season like the rest of his teammates.

Even yet, the fact that he led the team in goals scored in 2022–2023 may be proof enough that he can fulfil his potential as a central attacker. Time will tell where Kai Havertz will be playing his football next season, Chelsea or Real Madrid.
