Pedro, a former forward for Barcelona, said that he would like to retire with the La Liga winners, but he doesn’t think he will have the chance. Pedro spent six years with the senior team of the Catalan giants before departing the Blaugrana in 2015. In 321 games, the Spaniard netted 99 goals and dished out 62 assists.
The 36-year-old’s contract with Lazio in Serie A expires the following year. He’s been talking about his future and hinted about going back to Barcelona. If Xavi contacted Pedro about moving, he would happily retire inside Camp Nou and say yes right now. However, he doesn’t see it as a possibility (via Diario AS):
He said, “Retiring (at) Barca would be spectacular, but I see it as distant and difficult, it is something I am not even considering. If they tell me and Xavi calls me, before he hangs up and regrets it, I will come.”
This season, the seasoned striker has only scored two goals in 14 outings for Lazio across all competitions. Before moving to Chelsea eight years ago, he won 21 major titles with Barcelona.
Xavi does currently have a wealth of offensive alternatives in his Barca squad. The Spanish coach has choices including Joao Felix (loanee), Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres.
Pedro could not hear from Xavi about going back to the Blaugrana as a result. But, assuming he managed to return to Camp Nou, he would bring a wealth of expertise and assist the younger generation.
Raphinha to leave FC Barcelona
There have been various reports that Barcelona has lowered Raphinha’s asking price to €70 million. There have been rumours that the Brazilian winger may rejoin Chelsea or Arsenal in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old Raphinha hasn’t exactly made waves after joining the Catalan heavyweights. Across 11 appearances across all competitions, he has two goals as well as three assists to start the season. Under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea is still rebuilding and is anticipated to boost their assault even more.
