With just a few days for the PKL 2023 to start, Bengal Warriors have faced a big blow. Akshay Badake has been ruled out of the 10th edition of the tournament. Bodake took to his Instagram and let his followers know about his surgery, as a result of which, he will not be taking part in the tournament.
“I tried my best to play this season without surgery, but I will not be able to play in the upcoming season of PKL. My surgery was successful and I would like to thank the owner of Bengal Warriors and the team management for their support. I would like to especially thank my family and friends who have always been there for me. I will be starting my rehab soon and will keep you updated,” wrote Bodake on his Instagram account.
Bengal Warriors had brought Bodake for INR 13 lakhs in the PKL 2023 auctions. Bengal Warriors are set to play their first match of the tournament against Bengaluru Bulls in Ahmedabad. In the 10th edition of the league, the former champions would be hoping to get a lot from their experienced campaigner, Maninder Singh.
Warriors’ defence lineup features several young players
The star raider has been one of the best players in the history of the league. In the auctions of PKL 2023, there was a huge demand for the champion player. But the Warriors used the FBM card to get back their star player for a price of a whopping INR 2.12 crores. Maninder will get the support of raiders like Srikanth Jadhav, Aslam Thambi and others.
In the defence lineup, the Warriors have the likes of Shubham Shinde, Nitin Rawal, Vaibhav Garje and others. These youngsters carry the hopes of thousands of fans. In the 7th edition of the league, Bengal Warriors won the title for the first time. In the seasons following that, Bengal have been pretty ordinary, as they have not been able to qualify even for the playoffs. It is to be seen how good they are this time around.
