The upcoming 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League will kick off on December 2. Jaipur Pink Panthers will be the defending champions this time around, having won the 2022 final against Puneri Paltan. Meanwhile, in the history of the tournament, former India player Dharmaraj Cheralathan has played for multiple teams in the cash-rich league.The 48-year-old started his PKL career with the Bengaluru Bulls in season 2. The team lost the final against U Mumba. After this, Cheralathan was part of the Patna Pirates that won the fourth season (He was part of the team for only the fourth season and the team won the seasons 3,4, and 5).In season 6 and 7, he led the U Mumba and Haryana Steelers respectively. Two seasons back, he joined the current defending champions and now two-time winners, Jaipur Pink Panthers. With this, the Tamil Nadu-player became the first player in PKL history to play for seven teams out of 12.
Talking about Cherelathan’s India and domestic career, he played for the Indian Railways. The seasoned athlete started his career at the age of 12-13 as a defender. He represented the national side in the year 1999. The veteran player has nine gold medals, including the Kabaddi National Championship, Pro Kabaddi League, 2016 Kabaddi World Cup, Southeast Asian Games 2017, and the Asian Beach Games 2017. He last played in the PKL in 2021, for the Pink Panthers at the age of 46.
