IKF President affirms support for Women’s Pro Kabaddi League initiative

The President of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), Vinod K. Tiwary, has clarified that his organization fully supports the Women’s Pro Kabaddi League initiative, despite recent reports suggesting otherwise. Tiwary stated that the IKF has an exclusive contractual relationship with Disney-Star for the sport of kabaddi, and any initiative for a professional league for women by Star would be welcomed by the IKF.

Earlier this month, the organizers of the Pro Kabaddi League announced plans to launch a Women’s Pro Kabaddi League, which received a positive response from aspiring women kabaddi players. The upcoming season of the Pro Kabaddi League is set to take place later this year.

The IKF’s support for the Women’s Pro Kabaddi League is a significant boost for the initiative, as it provides credibility and recognition from the international governing body of the sport. The launch of a professional league for women’s kabaddi would not only promote gender equality in sports but also create more opportunities for women athletes to showcase their skills and talent on a bigger stage.
