Delhi High Court suspends election notice for office bearers of Kabaddi Federation
The Delhi High Court has suspended the announcement of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) elections, stating that no state may designate a person to vote on their behalf if they are not involved in the relevant athletic activity. The top court was hearing an argument that up to 13 ineligible voters made up the electoral college chosen by AKFI.
The petitioners said that because some of these people had no connection to Kabaddi and others had served more than the allowed number of terms, they were ineligible to vote. The argument made reference to a high court judgement from February 10 stating that the electoral college members have to abide by the National Sports Code and Model Election Guidelines.
