Star Kabaddi player and promoter Jasdev Singh Gola died in a car accident last night. Jasdev, who was based in Ohio, United States of America, came to India to participate in a local Kabaddi tournament.
The 50-year-old Kabaddi promoter was driving his car to his native house in Jhar Sahib village in Machhiwada block when he succumbed to an accident. Jasdev travelled from America to participate in the annual Kabaddi Cup in Gola Samrala, as he was a big promoter of this sports fair.
According to local news reports, he was driving from Garhi bridge to Jhar Sahib on the banks of Sirhind canal in his Innova car last night when he got involved in an accident with a truck. To save a cow from the car, he got trashed by a speeding truck. He was carried to the hospital in an injured state, where he was declared dead by doctors.
Jasdev has represented Punjab on the national level
According to locals, Jasdev Singh Gola was a national-level kabaddi and football player. He has represented several teams on the national level and had a great reputation in the sports world. After moving out of India, he was a Kabaddi promoter and was still attached to the land and sport of Punjab.
He has organised several sporting competitions near his village and was famous among locals. His untimely demise has shocked the sporting fraternity as they are in mourning.
