Following the end of the five-match T20I series, the Tom Latham-led New Zealand and the Babar Azam-led Pakistan will be gearing up to take each other on in a five-match ODI series that is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 27. After the five-match T20I series ended in a stalemate (2-2), both sides would hope that they could get a result out of the ODI series.
Ahead of the series, let us have a look at three players to watch out for who could make an impact for either sides in the ODI series.
Daryl Mitchell
All-rounder Daryl Mitchell has been in sensational form for the Black Caps recently. He was one of the most important players for the visitors in the recently concluded T20I series. With 159 runs and 10 wickets in his last 10 ODI games, Mitchell would be expected to come through for New Zealand and put in an excellent performance throughout the series.
Mark Chapman
Mark Chapman was another one of the best performers for New Zealand in recent the T20I series. Scoring 290 runs in five games during the series, the Black Caps would hope that the 28-year-old could put in similar performances in the forthcoming matches and amass some important runs for them. With 262 runs in seven ODI games, Chapman would look to get some much-needed experience in the format.
Babar Azam
Being one of the best batters in world cricket, a lot would depend on Babar Azam’s performances for Pakistan. With 4813 runs in 95 ODI games, and fabulous performances in recent matches, Babar would look to put in sensational showings for the Men in Green as they aim to clinch the five-match series. The 28-year-old has managed to score 657 runs in his last 10 ODI games and his form could prove to be crucial for Pakistan.
