After getting the Ashes 2023 off to an incredible start with a dramatic first Test at Edgbaston, England and Australia will continue to enthral the fans in the second Test beginning on Wednesday, June 28 at Lord’s.

A lot of things have been making headlines after Australia’s thrilling two-wicket victory in the first game. England have added wrist spinner Rehan Ahmed to their squad.

England players have also promised to make a sensational comeback in the second game. As the game draws closer, let’s take a look at the talking points ahead of the Lord’s Test:

Zak Crawley is confident on winning the match by 150 runs

England opener Zak Crawley has made a bold prediction that England will win the second Test by 150 runs as he feels that the pitch at Lord’s will suit them more.

Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden slam Ollie Robinson

Former Australia cricketers Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting have ripped apart English seamer Ollie Robinson for sledging Usman Khawaja after taking his wicket in the first innings.

Defending his actions, Robinson said that former Australian players such as Ricky Ponting used to do that to England during their playing days.

Ponting got infuriated by the same and told Robinson to focus more on his performance. On the other hand, Hayden launched a scathing attack on Robinson and called him a forgettable cricketer who bowls in 120s.

Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley believes Ashes can save Test cricket

Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley hailed both Australia and England after a dramatic first Test at Edgbaston and said that people will remember the game for years to come. He further called the series a great advert for Test cricket which is the ultimate format of the game.

Rehan Ahmed added as a cover for Moeen Ali

England have added wrist spinner Rehan Ahmed to their squad as a cover for Moeen Ali who was struggling with blisters on his fingers in the first Test.

James Anderson unhappy with the pitch at Edgbaston

Veteran England seamer James Anderson was unhappy with the pitch at Edgbaston and complained that the surface didn’t assist either swing or seam. He even went on to say that if surfaces remain similar to the one at Edgbaston then he’ll be done for the series.
