England women and Australia women will lock horns in the second ODI in the ongoing Women’s Ashes series at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton on July 16. England won the T20I series 2-1 after Australia clinched the one-off Test by 89 runs. 

In the first ODI contested at the County Ground in Bristol on July 12, England won the match by two wickets. Speaking of the first ODI, Australia skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bat first. Beth Mooney scored an unbeaten 81 as Australia set a 264-run target for the hosts. Lauren Bell and Nat Sciver-Brunt picked up two wickets each while Kate Cross, Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, and Alice Capsey grabbed one each for England. 

England skipper Heather Knight led her team from the front, scoring an unbeaten 86-ball 75-run knock as the hosts chased down the target in the penultimate over with 11 balls to spare. Meanwhile, for Australia, Ashleigh Gardner claimed a three-wicket haul, Georgia Wareham picked up two, while Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, and Jess Jonassen snared one scalp each.

Here are the three players to watch out for from England women in the second ODI against Australia women:

Alice Capsey

Alice Capsey, 18, will be one player to watch out for from the England team in the second ODI match. She was crucial for England in the first ODI, picking up a wicket and smashing crucial 40 runs against Australia. Notably, it was just her fifth match in the 50-over format. The teenager has amassed 120 runs from five matches at an average of 24.00 and a strike rate of 100.84 and picked up a wicket at an economy rate of 4.11.

Heather Knight

Heather Knight is expected to maintain her form in the second ODI as well as they seek to clinch the Ashes trophy. The 32-year-old was instrumental for England, scoring 75* off 86 deliveries, including six boundaries and a maximum. Her match-winning knock enabled her to win the Player of the Match. 

Nat Sciver-Brunt

The 30-year-old all-rounder will be another player to watch out for from the hosts. She picked up two wickets, dismissing Aussie opener Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Wareham. With the bat, she smashed a crucial 31 off 41 balls.
