Match No. 24 of The Hundred Men’s tournament will see the clash between London Spirit and Northern Superchargers. The game will be contested at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Friday, August 18.
London Spirit are currently standing seventh in the points table with four points from five games. The Dan Lawrence-led side have suffered a narrow two-run defeat against table toppers Oval Invincibles in their previous encounter.
Speaking of the game, Oval Invincibles won the toss and opted to bat first. Will Jacks, scored a half-century as Invincibles posted 189 in the first innings. Daryl Mitchell was crucial for London as he finished with figures of 2/16. Meanwhile, Nathan Ellis also picked up two wickets for 36 runs.
In reply, opener Adam Rossington spearheaded London’s innings, smashing a half-century. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 32 off 61 deliveries, including six boundaries and four maximums. Meanwhile, Matt Critchley also played a late cameo, scoring an unbeaten 32 off 13 balls. Despite the efforts of Rossington and Critchley, London failed to chase down the target. For Invincibles, Adam Zampa and Will Jacks picked up two wickets each.
Northern Superchargers, on the other hand, lost to Manchester Originals in their previous game. The Wayne Parnell-led side hold five points and are third in the standings.
In terms of the game, Manchester won the toss and opted to bat first. Jamie Overton led the charge for Originals, scoring an unbeaten 83 off 30 deliveries as his side posted 182 runs. Reece Topley was vital for Northern Superchargers, claiming a three-wicket haul. Brydon Carse, Callum Parkinson, and Adil Rashid also picked up one wicket each for the Superchargers.
During the chase, the Northern Superchargers batters struggled, and were restricted to 141 runs. Opener Matthew Short, top-scored for Superchargers, scoring 18-ball 37 runs.
