After their elimination from the tournament, they took on New Zealand in a three-match ODI series. After the game was abandoned in the first ODI, Bangladesh faced losses in the remaining two games as New Zealand clinched the series in comfortable fashion.
Despite Najmul Hossain Shanto’s valiant knock in the third ODI, Bangladesh failed to overcome the New Zealand challenge. On the other hand, Sri Lanka last played game in the summit clash of the Asia Cup 2023.
A night to forget for the Dasun Shanaka-led side, Sri Lanka were bundled out for a meagre 50 runs by an Indian bowling attack that looked to be at its very best. Furthermore, a brilliant showing by the Indian openers helped the side defeat Sri Lanka and clinch the Asia Cup 2023.
Facing disappointments in their previous assignments, both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be motivated to put in an improved performance in the forthcoming game and as they prepare themselves for the ODI World Cup, they will look to get a positive result in the warm up games and go into the marquee event on the back of some much needed confidence.
