The Netherlands and New Zealand will lock horns in the sixth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The match will be played on October 9 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Netherlands are coming off a defeat against Pakistan in their opening match of the competition. Bowling first after winning the toss, the Netherlands demonstrated some outstanding performances in the first innings. Bas de Leede claimed a four-wicket haul as the Netherlands restricted Pakistan to 286 runs in 49 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel were crucial for Pakistan scoring 68 runs each.
The Netherlands batting unit failed to make an impact as they were bundled out for 205 in 41 overs. Vikramjit Singh and Leede were crucial for the team, scoring 52 and 67 runs, respectively.
England, on the other hand, have had a terrible start in the ongoing tournament, having lost to New Zealand in the opening match. In terms of the game, New Zealand won the toss and invited England to bat first. Joe Root scored an 86-ball 77 runs as England posted 282 runs in 50 overs. Meanwhile, captain Jos Buttler scored 43 off 42 deliveries. Notably, no other batter has scored more than 40 runs for England during the match.
England failed to defend their total as New Zealand chased down the target in just 36.2 overs. Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra were key for New Zealand producing an unbeaten 273-run stand. Meanwhile, Sam Curran picked one wicket for the defending champions.
New Zealand are the favourites to win the match against the Netherlands. They are expected to perform well in the forthcoming match.
