Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has been traded from Karachi Kings to Islamabad United ahead of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Notably, Wasim was named as the all-rounder of PSL 2023 and has been transferred to Islamabad in the Platinum category in exchange for Hasan Ali (Diamond category).
Courtesy of this trade, Karachi have received Islamabad United’s first-round silver pick in exchange for their second-round silver pick. Notably, Wasim led Karachi to their only PSL title in 2020 as they beat Lahore Qalandars in the final by five wickets. During the season, he did full justice to his role as an all-rounder by scoring 158 runs from eight innings at a strike rate of 133.89 and also scalped seven wickets.

The 34-year-old had another brilliant season in 2023 as he finished as the fifth-highest run scorer of the tournament with 429 runs to his name from 13 innings at an incredible average of 134.66 and a strike rate of 170.46 with three fifties to his name. The left-arm spinner also scalped nine wickets at an average of 28.22 and an economy of 7.93.
However, despite his marvellous all-round show Karachi failed to qualify for the knockouts and finished on the fifth spot (second last) on the points table with three wins from ten matches having six points to their name.
Hasan Ali is the second-highest wicket-taker in PSL history
On the other hand, Hasan Ali also had a memorable season for Islamabad United in 2023 as he finished in the top ten wicket-takers of the tournament with 13 scalps to his name from eight innings at an average of 22.84. Islamabad were eventually knocked out after losing to Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 1.
The 29-year-old is the all-time second-highest wicket-taker of the Pakistan Super League history with 94 wickets from 71 innings at an average of 23.04 and an economy of 8.00.

Meanwhile, apart from Wasim and Hasan, other relegation requests from franchises ahead of the PSL 2024 Player Draft include Lahore Qalandars’ Mirza Tahir Baig, Islamabad United’s Rumman Raees and Karachi Kings’ Mir Hamza (all Gold to Silver). Notably, the player draft is tentatively scheduled to take place in mid-December, immediately following the conclusion of the National T20.
