The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is considering the newly constructed Mullanpur Stadium as the potential home ground for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Traditionally, the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali has served as the primary home venue for PBKS in the lucrative league.
In a recent interaction with the media, PCA Secretary, Dilsher Khanna, revealed that the officials from the IPL franchise have already inspected the Mullanpur Stadium and there is a strong chance that it might host PBKS’ matches. There were speculations about the Mullanpur Stadium hosting a T20I match between India and Afghanistan in January. However, Khanna stated that some pending work at the venue necessitated holding that fixture in Mohali.
Meanwhile, the official X account of the Punjab Cricket Association shared a video showcasing the Mullanpur Stadium’s recent developments. The video features Dilsher Khanna providing a comprehensive tour of the stadium to media personnel, highlighting key aspects such as the playing area, grandstands, and the facilities available for both players and fans. The announcement assures that the Mullanpur Stadium will be ready to host IPL 2024 matches soon.

As per reports, the Mullanpur Stadium boasts a spectator capacity of approximately 30,000, with parking facilities expected to accommodate around 1800 cars. Currently, there are a total of 12 pitches under preparation in the centre of the stadium. Meanwhile, the net session area in the stadium is strategically located adjacent to gate number one, the designated entrance for teams. In addition, the stadium features expansive dressing rooms for players which have facilities such as a sauna bath, buffet area, shower facilities, and a massage area.
