Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a night to celebrate in the IPL 2024 on Friday, comprehensively defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in Hyderabad. This victory marks their second win of the season, putting them back on track after a shaky start.

SRH Dominate with Ball and Bat

SRH captain Pat Cummins‘ decision to bowl first proved to be a masterstroke. Their bowling attack kept the CSK batsmen in check, taking wickets at regular intervals. Openers Rachin Ravindra (12) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) were dismissed early, preventing them from building a strong foundation.

A brief partnership between Shivam Dube (45) and Ajinkya Rahane (35) threatened to revive the CSK innings. However, the SRH bowlers displayed exceptional control, tightening the noose and restricting the flow of runs. CSK were eventually restricted to a below-par total of 165 runs, with credit going to the bowlers for executing their plans flawlessly.

Clinical Batting Secures Victory for SRH

Chasing a modest target, SRH openers provided a dream start. Abhishek Sharma (37 off 12) unleashed an aggressive knock, putting the pressure on the CSK bowlers from the very beginning. Travis Head (31), dropped by Moeen Ali in the very first over, made the most of his reprieve by playing a crucialknock. Aiden Markram continued the momentum with a well-composed half-century, taking the team closer to the finish line.

Despite a slight hiccup towards the end, Heinrich Klaasen (10*) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (14*) held their nerve to secure a comfortable victory for SRH with 6 wickets in hand.
