Bangladesh secured a hard-fought victory over Zimbabwe by a narrow margin of 5 runs in the fourth T20I of their five-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Friday. Despite setting a below-par total of 143 runs, the Bengal Tigers managed to defend it successfully, as Zimbabwe faltered against Bangladesh’s bowling attack, getting all out for 138 runs in 19.4 overs.

The highly charged encounter also saw a light-hearted moment when Zimbabwe’s fielders missed a straightforward opportunity for a run-out. The video capturing this amusing blunder has been circulating on social media, delighting fans with its comedic value.

Zimbabwe’s failed attempts of run-out leave fans in splits

During the 20th over of the match, Blessing Muzarabani delivered a slower back-of-a-length ball to Tanvir Islam, who defended it just beyond the bowler. Initially, there was a call for a quick single from Mustafizur Rahman, who was positioned at non-striker, but due to confusion, both batters hesitated momentarily before attempting the run again, creating a clear opportunity for a run-out.

However, the bowler failed to aim accurately at the stumps, resulting in the ball veering away from the wicketkeeper towards the third-man boundary, allowing the batters to sneak in an overthrow. More confusion between the Bangladesh players left them stranded at one end. A fielder threw the ball back towards the bowler’s end in an attempt to effect an easy run-out. Yet, despite having ample time and the ball almost within his reach, fielder Johnathan Campbell fumbled. He had a chance to gather the ball and dislodge the bails with the batter inches away from him, but he couldn’t execute the dismissal.

This momentary lapse provided a dual lifeline to Mustafizur leaving other Zimbabwe fielders incredulous at the missed opportunity.

Zimbabwe’s bowling attack stuns the hosts

Under the leadership of Sikandar Raza, the Zimbabwean bowlers effectively slowed down Bangladesh’s scoring momentum, consistently taking vital wickets. Luke Jongwe‘s performance, securing 3 wickets for 20 runs, alongside Richard Ngarava‘s contribution of 2 wickets for 27 runs in his four overs, played a pivotal role in containing Bangladesh to a modest total of 143 runs within their stipulated 20 overs.
