Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to compete fiercely as they vie for progression towards claiming the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 title. Their much-anticipated clash is slated to unfold at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Both teams feature players who are no strangers to engaging in sledging during matches. Adding to the intrigue, RR’s Nandre Burger has openly expressed his intention to engage in sledging with RCB’s Virat Kohli during their upcoming encounter.

Nandre Burger challenges to sledge Virat Kohli

In a video posted by RR on their official social media platform, Burger was filmed engaging in conversation with Donovan Ferreira. Donovan prompted his countrymen to share his experiences in sledging with batters. Burger responded by stating that while he doesn’t have a specific batter, he enjoys sledging and wants to engage in a sledging duel with Kohli. The Proteas pacer disclosed that during India‘s Test series against South Africa, there were rumours of tension between him and Kohli, although, in reality, there was none. Burger admitted that while he hasn’t yet had the opportunity to sledge Kohli, he would eagerly relish it if given the chance.

“I think there is no specific batsman I enjoy sledging. I just think I enjoy the competitive side of it, I think in the India series last year, many people thought myself and Virat had a little thing which we actually didn’t. There was no sledging happening there. It was just stare-downs. But I think to get into a little sledging match with him would be fun. I think I would enjoy it,” Burger said.

Ferreira responded humorously to this remark by wishing the bowler good luck for sledging Kohli. Burger, detecting the sarcasm in Ferreira’s comment, found himself amused and burst into laughter.

Burger has secured 7 wickets across 6 matches this season, maintaining an average of 20.71. Conversely, Kohli has dominated as the season’s leading run-scorer, amassing 708 runs in 14 matches. If the 28-year-old takes onto the field, the clash between him and Kohli promises to be one of the most captivating moments of the game.
