Punjab Kings began the Indian Premier League 2024 season well with a win over Delhi Capitals in the first game of the season. This was followed by a miserable run of games where their familiar inconsistency came to the fore. The injury to their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan did not help matters as the Punjab side began to flounder.
Sam Curran tried his best to bring his team back into the campaign with his inspirational captaincy. The biggest highlight of the season for the Punjab Kings was when they chased down the massive 261-run target against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
This year players like Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma proved to be the finds of the season. Shashank Singh in particular played a few crucial knocks to help his team in the hunt and his match-winning knocks against Gujarat Titans and KKR will be remembered for a long time.

The Australian bowler is considered one of the best in the T20 format, especially for his death bowling. The 29-year-old though played just one match where he picked a wicket and that too at the end of the season. Many experts questioned the logic behind the underutilization of Nathan Ellis as he could have been a huge player for Punjab Kings, especially in the death overs where they seemed to lack on many occasions.
2. Atharva Taide

Promising young opening batter Atharva Taide is rated very highly in the Indian domestic circuit. The left-handed batter from Vidarbha played just 2 matches and scored 61 runs with 46 runs off those runs coming against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Taide will feel he was massively underutilized considering that he could have been looked at more closely after the injury to Shikhar Dhawan.
1. Rishi Dhawan

IPL 2024 season for Punjab Kings may have been a huge disappointment but it was frustrating for one player in particular. Rishi Dhawan who is a proven player in the league was made to sit out for most of the season and was given a game only towards the end. His only appearance this season saw him go wicketless and get no chance to bat. It would have been a huge disappointment for Rishi Dhawan that he was underutilized despite Punjab having a dismal campaign where he could have made a difference.
