Adelaide Strikers Women shall look to use the home advantage as they take on the Melbourne Renegades Women in the 17th game of the Women’s Big Bash League 2022-23. The Adelaide Strikers Women come into this game with a win against the Sydney Sixers Women, while the Renegades lost to Brisbane Heat Women in their last game.  

The Adelaide Strikers Women have enjoyed a good record at this venue, winning their last three out of four games. The Renegades Women are struggling for form with two consecutive losses. It will be an important game for both sides and it remains to be seen which of them wins.

Tahlia McGrath’s side ended its two-match losing spree and registered the first win of the tournament. The side held its nerves in the final overs against Sydney Sixers Women to win the game by three runs. Their opponents have also been in poor form, and McGrath shall like to use this opportunity and win the second game in a row.  

Deandra Dottin and Katie Mack haven’t been in the best form, and the pair must get their acts together. The middle order shall have a crucial role in this game, and the side shall expect runs from Laura Wolvaardt, Bridget Patterson, and McGrath. Madeline Penna adds firepower to the batting down the order, and she needs to add runs with Amanda Wellington and Tegan McPharlin.  

Darcie Brown and Megan Schutt displayed excellent skills in the last game, and the side shall look for a good start with the new ball from the pair. Deandra Dottin, Wellington, and Jemma Barsby shall have to bowl well in the middle overs. The side shall also expect a good show from McGrath, who brings in a lot of experience.

Back-to-back losses have hurt the side’s campaign. They came here with a 26-run loss against Brisbane Heat Women, where their batters and bowlers underperformed. Skipper Sophie Molineux shall like to put these losses behind her and pull off a better show. One more loss would put the side in a corner, and the Renegades Women shall look to avoid it at all costs.  

Sophie Molineux and Hayley Matthews have to play well as they haven’t scored runs at the top. The side would also like to see a good show in the middle order from Evelyn Jones, Courtney Webb, and Josephine Dooley, as they have looked good. The lower middle order has been a worry for the team, and they shall need runs from Ellie Falconer and Georgia Prestwidge.  

Their bowling attack hasn’t done well, and it will be a big test for them in this game. Shabnim Ismail must bring her experience into play and do well with the new ball and Ella Hayward. Sarah Coyte and Matthews need to keep the scoring rate under check in the middle overs. The side would also expect good spells from Molineux and Prestwidge.
