The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi took a hilarious turn when Abrar Ahmed, the home team’s number 10 batter, staged a dramatic sprint to the crease. The incident involving Abrar was a rare moment of levity in an otherwise intense match. His frantic sprint to the crease, fuelled by a fear of time-out dismissal, showcased the pressure faced by batters in high-stakes cricket.
Abrar Ahmed makes a dash to the wicket
With his team in dire straits after the dismissal of Mohammad Ali, Abrar was all set to enter the fray. However, his eagerness to contribute almost landed him in an embarrassing situation. Abrar, clearly aware of the three-minute time limit for incoming batters, sprinted towards the crease in a desperate attempt to avoid a time-out dismissal. This comical scene left everyone in stitches, including the opposition’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
Adding to the amusement, Abrar even lost one of his gloves during his mad dash. He had to backtrack to retrieve it before finally making it to the crease.

Flashback to the 2023 World Cup: Shakib’s time-out tactics
The incident brought back memories of Shakib’s infamous tactic during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Back then, Shakib became the first cricketer in international history to time out his opponent, Sri Lanka‘s Angelo Matthews.
A time-out dismissal occurs when a batter takes more than three minutes to arrive at the crease after the previous batter is dismissed or retired.
Bangladesh on the brink of a historic win
Meanwhile, the serious business of the match continues. After securing a dominant 10-wicket victory in the first Test, Bangladesh are on the cusp of creating history. They require just 136 runs with all wickets intact on the final day to complete a clean sweep against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan, on the other hand, faces a monumental task. They need to take all ten Bangladeshi wickets to win the match and level the Test series.
