In an exciting moment during the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024-25, Harshit Rana captured attention with a playful gesture towards Ruturaj Gaikwad. As Gaikwad walked off the field after his knock of 5 runs in the first innings, Rana sent him off with a flying kiss.

A controversial moment during India C vs India D match

The incident took during the seventh over of India C’s first innings. On the fourth ball of the over, Gaikwad, who is also the captain of his team, was caught in the second slip by Atharva Taide.  dismissed. As Gaikwad made his way back to the pavilion, Rana’s cheeky flying kiss made fans remember about his similar celebration after removing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening batter Mayank Agarwal in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Back then, Rana was fined 60% of his match fee for his over-the-top celebration. The incident once again served as a reminder of the fine line between passion and sportsmanship in the game of cricket.

Duleep Trophy 2024-25 context

The Duleep Trophy 2024-25 is currently underway, beginning on September 5 and features four teams: India A, India B, India C, and India D. Each team has to play three games against the other three sides, while the champion will be determined based on points grabbed during the round-robin stage as there are no knockout matches.

Star players like Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Prasidh Krishna have been ruled out of the first round of the tournament due to respective injuries. Suryakumar faced a sprain in his right thumb while fielding in the Buchi Babu Tournament, while Ishan sustained a groin injury in the same tournament.

Fast bowler Prasidh is yet to complete his rehabilitation following surgery for his left quadriceps tendon. He last played a professional match for Rajasthan against Karnataka in Ranji Trophy 2023-24.
