In a recent event held in Kolkata, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly expressed his admiration for 27-year-old fast bowler Akash Deep, who has earned a place in India’s squad for the upcoming matches Test series against Bangladesh. Ganguly praised Akash as an outstanding young fast bowler, highlighting his speed, fitness and ability to bowl for long periods. He compared Akash’s pace to Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, saying he could hit speeds in the high 140s and is a talent to watch out for.

“Akash Deep is an outstanding young fast bowler. He runs in, bowls quick, and will bowl for long periods. He is fit, I’ve seen him play for Bengal over a long period of time, taking wickets, He will be as quick as Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, hitting high 140s. He is one to watch out for,” the Prince of Kolkata said.

Ganguly also addressed the absence of India’s star pacer Shami, who is currently sidelined due to an injury. However, the former Indian batter assured fans that Shami’s recovery is on track.

“I know Mohammed Shami is missing because of injury, but he will be back very soon since India is going to Australia. It’s still a very good attack,” said Ganguly, expressing confidence in India’s bowling strength despite Shami’s temporary absence.
