In the second T20I of the four-match series between South Africa and India at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi produced a moment of brilliance to dismiss Andile Simelane, as the Proteas fought to chase down a modest target. Bishnoi’s skilful delivery, which left the South African batter completely bamboozled, was one of the standout moments in a low-scoring thriller.
Ravi Bishnoi’s googly outfoxes Andile Simelane
During the 16th over of the South African innings, Bishnoi unleashed a deceptive googly, catching Simelane off guard. Bowling at a swift pace and full length, Bishnoi targeted the stumps with precision. Simelane, attempting a powerful slog sweep, was tricked by the inward turn of the ball, missing the shot entirely. The delivery clipped his middle and leg stumps, sending Simelane back to the pavilion for 7 runs off 10 balls.

Bishnoi’s wicket was one of the highlights of his spell, which ended with figures of 1 for 21. Having impressed in the previous match with a brilliant 3-wicket haul, the young leg-spinner continues to showcase his skill and potential in T20 cricket. Bishnoi’s ability to keep the pressure on the South African batters was evident as he further cemented his importance in India’s bowling line-up.

South Africa’s nerve-wracking chase: Tristan Stubbs seals the deal
India, sent in to bat first, managed to post a total of 124/6 in their allotted 20 overs. With a disappointing start, the Indian batting lineup faltered in the middle overs.
South Africa’s chase began with challenges, as India spinner Varun Chakaravarthy dominated with a stellar four-over spell, taking five wickets for just 17 runs. Despite his exceptional performance, the Proteas fought back, led by a determined Tristan Stubbs, who scored a match-winning 47 off 41 balls, including seven boundaries. Stubbs’ composed innings ensured South Africa reached 128/7 in 19 overs, clinching victory by three wickets.
With this victory, South Africa levelled the series 1-1, ensuring that the remaining two matches will be crucial in determining the winner.
