The eighth season of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 has been an absolute delight for the fans. With the playoffs right around the corner, seeing which teams make it into the eliminators will be interesting.
In the 25th match of the tournament, Peshawar Zalmi will be taking on Quetta Gladiators at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, March 8. Both teams are coming off comprehensive victories and will be looking to maintain their winning streak as they take each other on.
Peshawar Zalmi are coming off a tremendous victory against table-toppers Lahore Qalandars. Batting first, Zalmi notched up 207 runs on the scoreboard against Qalandars. The table toppers, however, were bundled out for 172, handing Peshawar Zalmi the win.
Saim Ayub and Babar Azam were influential for their side, as they scored 68 and 50 runs, respectively, and propelled their team to a respectable total in the first innings. Wahab Riaz and Arshad Iqbal took three wickets each to hinder Lahore Qalandars’ chase.
Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators are coming off a thrilling victory against Karachi Kings. Kings put up 165 runs on the scoreboard for Gladiators to chase, and it was the innings of Martin Guptill that came through once again.
Guptill scored an unbeaten 86 off 56 deliveries and was integral in the team chasing the target as Quetta Gladiators won the game by four wickets. Despite the victory, Quetta Gladiators find themselves at the bottom of the points table with just four points in eight games. However, Peshawar Zalmi sit in fourth place with eight points in seven matches.
Gladiators will have to go all-out if they are looking to register a victory against Peshawar Zalmi; once again, Martin Guptill’s form could be the deciding factor for them as they gear up to take them on. On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi will be looking to maintain their run and will depend on a well-found balance between the batting and bowling lineup.
