Afghanistan will lock horns with Bangladesh in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series. The ODI matches will be contested at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on July 5, 8, and 11 respectively.
Afghanistan played a one-off Test against Bangladesh as part of their visit to the country recently. Notably, the hosts outplayed Afghanistan and registered a mammoth 546-run win at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
After the ODI series, both teams will face off in two T20I (Twenty 20 Internationals), with Sylhet hosting all matches. The two T20I matches will be played on July 14 and 16, respectively.
Here are the three bowlers to watch out for from Afghanistan in the ODI series:
Rashid khan
Rashid Khan will be one bowler to watch out for in the Afghanistan team. After missing the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka due to a lower-back injury, he returned for the third and final game. However, he was unable to make an impact with either the bat or the ball. Notably, he was instrumental for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023, taking 27 wickets in 17 games at an average of 20.44 and an economy rate of 8.24.
Mohammad Nabi
Mohammad Nabi played effectively for Afghanistan in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. In the three encounters, he took three wickets. However, he failed to make some significant contributions with the bat. At an excellent economy rate of 4.30, Nabi is just three shy of completing 150 scalps in ODI cricket – a record that he would love to achieve ideally in the first ODI itself.
Fazalhaq Farooqi
Fazalhaq Farooqi was instrumental in his team’s six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first ODI. He took two crucial wickets, dismissing opener Dimuth Karunaratne and keeper-batter Kusal Mendis. Notably, he went wicketless in Afghanistan’s last two ODI matches but has the ability to make the new ball talk.
