Bangladesh’s women’s team scripted history in the first ODI of the three-match series against India on Sunday, July 16. Nigar Sultana and Co. became the first Bangladeshi women’s team to beat India in a 50-over contest. The tourists will be licking their wounds after their 40-run loss (via DLS method) and would be seeking revenge as they lock horns again on Wednesday, July 19, in the second ODI in Mirpur. Let’s take a look at the Indian bowlers who could prove to be a handful for the Bangladeshi batters in the upcoming ODI.

Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma bowled well in the first ODI as she gave away just 26 runs in her nine overs and also picked up the wicket of Nahida Akter. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opted to give Sharma the new ball alongside Pooja Vastrakar. While the talented all-rounder managed to stem the flow of runs, she would have loved to have added a few more wickets to her name. In the second ODI, the 25-year-old will likely make more of an impact as she has the ability to take wickets in clusters.

Amanjot Kaur

On a personal front, Amanjot Kaur had a dream ODI debut as she scalped four wickets against Bangladesh in the first match. She picked up the wickets of Murshida Khatun, Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana, and Rabeya Khan, finishing with figures of 4/31 in nine overs. The right-arm seamer can be a trump card for Harmanpreet as the Bangladeshi batters looked all at sea against her disciplined bowling.

Sneh Rana

While the experienced campaigner could not pick up a wicket in the first ODI, she finished with mind-boggling figures of 0/11 in eight overs. Her economical spell from one end created immense pressure on the hosts’ batters and helped her fellow bowlers to pick wickets from the other end. The 29-year-old will hope to use her guile to keep the Bangladeshi batters in check in the second ODI and also pick up a wicket or two along the way.
