Seventh final in 13 years – that is Sydney Sixers’ legacy in the Big Bash League. They have won three championships so far while losing in 2015, 2017 and 2022. In this season, the Moises Henriques-led side once again proved to be consistent and courtesy of the same, they have qualified for the finals of the competition, where they will face a tough challenge in the form of Brisbane Heat.
The Nathan McSweeney-led side qualified for the finals of the competition in 2023 but Perth Scorchers won the match in the last over of the game. With Vengeance in their head, Heat will aim to get over the line this time around in order to win their second title in history.
Heat’s Josh Brown stole the show in the Challenger as he played a blistering knock of 140 runs off 57 deliveries. His form will give the team a lot of confidence, who need some as they lost the Qualifier match against Sydney. They have a ruthless bowling unit as well, with Michael Neser, Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson in the mix.
Coming to Sydney Sixers, they will have the upper hand as they are well accustomed to the conditions of the Sydney Cricket Ground. Josh Phillippe and Henriques have done well with the bat but it’s their bowling that has made the real difference so far.
