In a riveting qualifier clash between the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat, the Sixers emerged victorious in the First Qualifier to secure a direct entry into the Final showdown. Opting to bat first, the Sixers posted a competitive total of 152 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Their combined efforts set the stage for a challenging target. The Heat, however, faltered in their chase and were bowled out for 113, succumbing to the Sixers’ bowling attack and losing the match by 39 runs. They now meet again for the final time in the ultimate showdown on January 24.

3 Players to watch out for in the final

Josh Brown

In a dazzling performance, opener Josh Brown propelled Brisbane Heat into the BBL final with a scintillating century, marking the joint-second-fastest in the league’s history. His explosive innings of 140 off 57 balls, adorned with a staggering 12 sixes, stands as the third-highest individual score in BBL history. This spectacular display of power-hitting on the Gold Coast not only secured Heat’s spot in the final but also halted Adelaide Strikers’ formidable late-season surge

Moises Henriques

In contrast to his previous impactful innings against the Scorchers, Moises Henriques adopted a more measured approach, tallying just nine runs from his initial 20 deliveries. Demonstrating his trademark composure, he unleashed his attacking prowess just before the drinks break, dispatching leg spinner Mitchell Swepson for a six down the ground and following it up with a timely boundary. Despite the slow start, Henriques, in his characteristic fashion, is poised to elevate his performance in the upcoming Final.

Matt Renshaw

In the initial qualifier, the onus was on Matt Renshaw, recently released from Australia’s first Test squad, to steer the Heat to victory. Seeking a power surge in the 12th over, Renshaw attempted to shift momentum with two explosive sixes. However, his efforts were curtailed in the 13th over by Dwarshuis. Despite the setback, Renshaw, now set to impact the proceedings in the final, remains a key figure for the Heat.
