Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes will lock horns in Match 31 of the ongoing Big Bash League. The match will be contested at the Adelaide Oval on January 9, Tuesday. The Hurricanes and Strikers are currently standing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the points table.
Adelaide are coming off a nine-wicket win over Perth Scorchers after suffering four consecutive defeats. Speaking about the game, the Strikers captain Matthew Short (c) won the toss and opted to field first. David Payne and Lloyd Pope picked up two wickets as the Strikers’ restricted the Scorchers by 153 runs. Short (76*) and Chris Lynn (50*) scored crucial half-centuries as the Strikers chased down the target with 23 runs to spare.
Hobart Hurricanes, on the other hand, suffered a narrow defeat in their previous game against Brisbane Heat. In the game, the Hurricanes won the toss and elected to field first. Captain Colin Munro (56) scored a half-century as Heat posted 132 runs. Rain played spoilsport after 4.4 overs in the second innings and the target was revised to 118 from 16 overs. Nikhil Chaudhary scored a gritty knock of 55 off 38 during the chase. His half-century went in vain as the Heat won the game for just one run using the DLS method.
