The 35th match of this season’s Big Bash League is set to witness a thrilling encounter between the table toppers, Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers.

The unbeaten Heat currently sit atop the points table with seven wins and two no-results, boasting a formidable lineup that has showcased individual brilliance throughout the tournament. Colin Munro and Sam Billings have been leading the charge with the bat, accumulating 224 and 145 runs, respectively, while the return of Usman Khawaja further strengthens their batting prowess. 

The Heat’s bowling department has also been in top form, with seamers Xavier Barlett and Paul Walter posing a challenge to opposing batters, and spinners Matthew Kuhnemann and Mitchell Swepson adding to their potency. In their last game against the same opponent, Heat emerged victorious by 23 runs, courtesy of an exceptional batting performance by all-rounder Michael Neser. 

However, on the other hand, the Scorchers have also been performing well in the tournament, currently sitting in second place on the points table with five wins and two losses in their eight matches. Captain Aaron Hardie and Josh Inglis lead the run-scorer list with 287 and 204 runs to their name, respectively, while Jason Behrendorff, Lance Morris, and Andrew Tye have been in top form with 11, ten, and seven wickets to their credit. Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar is also bowling exceptionally well and has proven to be quite effective in restricting the run flow during the middle overs.

The Perth pitch is known to favour batters, making it conducive to good batting performances. A score exceeding 180 is anticipated for the team batting first, while anything below that is likely to pose a significant challenge for the defending team. Spinners may become more influential during the latter part of the inning.
