Round 2 of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 saw India C take on India B while India A squared off against India D. Both the sides clashed at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B, in Ananthapur, from September 12–15 as well, and after a hard-fought encounter for a few days, the match eventually ended in a draw.

On the other hand, India A played with India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium at the same venue on the same calendar days. Led by skipper Mayank Agarwal, India A managed to dominate India D throughout the game and registered an emphatic 186-run victory. However, throughout round 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2024, many performances stood out

From Shams Mulani’s all-round performance to Anshul Kamboj’s excellence with the ball, let us have a look at the top three performers from Round 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2024.

India B skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran was one of the best performers for his side in the clash against India C. Leading India B, Easwaran played a knock for the ages against his opponents in the first innings of the game. The clash began with India C coming in to bat first and posting a mammoth 525 runs in the first innings. In response, the young Easwaran opened the innings for India B and scored an unbeaten 157* runs off 286 deliveries.

As a result, his knock helped India B post 332 runs in the first innings. In the follow-up, India C posted 128 runs in the second innings and declared, the match was eventually drawn. However, Easwaran’s knock was simply outstanding from the rest of the batters.

2. Shams Mulani

India A’s Shams Mulani was adjudged the player of the match as his side defeated India D by 186 runs. The clash between both sides began with India A batting first and posted a total of 290 runs in the first innings. Notably, Shams Mulani scored 89 runs off 187 deliveries. With the ball, Mulani bowled 9.1 overs in the first innings and took one wicket, conceding 50 runs in the process.

Furthermore, Mulani claimed a three-wicket haul in the second innings and conceded 117 runs. Besides, he did not get the chance to bat again in the second innings. But it is worth saying that the willy allrounder grabbed the opportunity with both hands and showed his skills with both the bat and the ball when it mattered the most. Consequently, India A hammered India D by a large margin.

1. Anshul Kamboj

The young pace sensation Anshul Kamboj has been another player who made a mark in round 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2024. Kamboj first made a vital contribution with the bat by scoring 38 runs in the first innings of the game, and then impressed with his lethal bowling. After India C posted a total of 525 runs in the first innings, it was Kamboj’s spell that helped his side limit India B to a score of 332.

Bowling 27.5 overs in the first innings, Kamboj conceded just 69 runs and took eight wickets. He dismantled almost all the top batters of India B in a game that eventually resulted in a draw.
