The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is set to begin on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens. With the new season approaching, franchises have started unveiling their new jerseys, each having unique and new designs, meanings, and stories.
IPL jerseys are more than just uniforms, they represent a team’s identity, passion, and fan connection. Over the years, franchises have experimented with colors, patterns, and special tributes, making each season’s jerseys special and different.
This year, along with fresh designs, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new rule prohibiting players from wearing floppy hats and sleeveless jerseys during post-match presentations. The is to maintain professionalism and sustain the league’s brand image.

10. Punjab Kings (PBKS)- {7.5/10}
Punjab Kings disclosed their brand-new jersey ahead of the season. Sticking to their signature red, the franchise has added a royal gold foiling on the sides, gold-accented collars, and gold-foiled names and numbers. The emblem, with a more textured finish, symbolizes Punjab’s strength and fighting power. The jersey features an elastane underarm panel, ensuring comfort for the players. Completing the look is the tricolor on the shoulder, reflecting national pride.
The jersey launch wasn’t the only big news from Punjab Kings. In a blockbuster announcement on a well-known Indian TV reality show, Bigg Boss 18, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan introduced Shreyas Iyer as PBKS’s new captain. The franchise made headlines by acquiring Iyer for a record-breaking INR 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. With Ricky Ponting as the new head coach, the side will enter its 18th IPL season with new hope after a disappointing ninth-place finish last year.
9. Delhi Capitals (DC)- {7.5/10}
Delhi Capitals have once again stuck to their classic red and blue theme. This season, red has been dominating the shoulders, sleeves, and sides, while the front and back remain completely blue. Unlike last year’s metro-route-inspired design, the 2025 jersey features bold vertical lines across the front. Puma, the official kit supplier, has its logo displayed on the leading arm.
Meanwhile, star all-rounder Axar Patel has been appointed as DC’s new captain, replacing Rishabh Pant, who was released ahead of the auction. The franchise also made notable acquisitions, bringing in KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc. Meanwhile, England’s Harry Brook recently pulled out from the season, resulting in a two-year IPL ban. The Capitals, searching for their maiden title, kick off their campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam on March 24.

7. Gujarat Titans (GT)- {8/10}
Gujarat Titans (GT) have unveiled their jersey for the new season, sticking to their signature dark blue design. Similar to the previous seasons, the franchise has made minimal changes, keeping the same look that fans have come to love. However, GT has begun a new partnership with playR, a sports and lifestyle brand, as their official merchandise partner starting this season.
Meanwhile, the side is yet to announce their skipper, with speculation increasing after the franchise’s social media post featuring Rashid Khan staring at a blank slate, captioned “A clean slate. A new story,” triggering rumors that he may replace Shubman Gill as captain. Gill, retained for INR 16.5 crore, took up the responsibility in 2024 after Hardik Pandya’s departure. GT has strengthened its squad with big names like Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada. Ahead of the auction, they retained five key players, including Khan, Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan.
6. Rajasthan Royals (RR)- {8/10}
The Rajasthan Royals have unveiled their IPL 2025 jersey, paying respect to Rajasthan’s rich heritage and the franchise’s cricketing legends. The inaugural champions released the new kit on January 29, displaying a design inspired by the iconic Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower) in Chittorgarh. The side stuck true to their traditional pink and blue colors. Additionally, they have skilfully woven elements of Rajasthan’s legacy into their attire.
The jersey, designed by students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Jodhpur, is a mix of tradition and modern aesthetics. Furthermore, RR honored past and present stars by including the names and jersey numbers of legends like the late Shane Warne, Rahul Dravid, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, and others. Additionally, the team will specially celebrate International Women’s Day by donning an all-pink jersey for the Pink Promise Match against Mumbai Indians on May 1. Proceeds from this limited-edition kit will go to the Royal Rajasthan Foundation, supporting women-led initiatives across the state.
5. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)- {8.5/10}
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made a change in their color scheme for the upcoming season. Moving away from last season’s royal blue experiment, the franchise has opted for a darker shade of blue alongside its traditional red. The decision was made after the 2024 jersey failed to resonate with many loyal fans.
Surprisingly, RCB unveiled the jersey ahead of their Unbox event on March 17, where it will be presented to fans. The jersey was introduced by newly appointed captain Rajat Patidar upon his arrival at the team hotel ahead of the 2025 season. RCB will begin their campaign by playing the opener against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 22. Star batter Virat Kohli, Patidar, and pacer Yash Dayal were the only three retentions the side made ahead of the auction.
4. Mumbai Indians (MI)- {8.5/10}
The joint-most successful team, Mumbai Indians, revealed their jersey through a video featuring skipper Hardik Pandya alongside Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma. The new kit retains the iconic blue and gold combination, symbolizing trust and confidence. A change this season is the addition of new sponsors, including ‘Skechers’ as the official kit partner.
Following a disappointing 2024 season under Pandya’s captaincy, the franchise is hoping to turn things around. Despite fan backlash and a last-place finish, MI has backed their star all-rounder to lead once again. The brand new jersey launch video not only flaunted the fresh kit but also featured Pandya’s message to the fans, promising a strong comeback.
“Dear Paltan, 2025 is our opportunity to bring the legacy where it belongs. With the blue & gold on us, we will take the field to Play like Mumbai. This is not just our jersey. This is a promise to you. Chala bhetu, Wankhede la (Let’s meet at Wankhede,” he said.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)- {9/10}
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have unveiled their new jersey for the 18th edition of the cash-rich. The franchise, who finished as runners-up in IPL 2024, displayed the latest kit on their social media handle. SRH has stayed loyal to its classic orange and black theme, making only subtle changes.
The jersey reveal was done in style, with a reel featuring Team India’s Ishan Kishan, opener Abhishek Sharma, leg spinner Rahul Chahar, and Abhinav Manohar. Furthermore, famous American rapper Kendrick Lamar’s hit song ‘DNA’ was played in the background as the players posed with the kit. The side will kickstart its IPL 2025 campaign against the Rajasthan Royals at home on March 23. In the previous season, the Hyderabad-based franchise displayed an ultra-aggressive brand of cricket, which guided the side to the summit clash. However, they could not lift the trophy, suffering a defeat at the the hands of KKR. This time around, they will look to finish the undone.
2. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)- {9.5/10}
Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) launched their new jersey for IPL 2025 and stuck to their iconic yellow. While there was no major event for the jersey reveal, the unveiling was done by veteran spinner and former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who returned to the franchise after 2015. A major highlight of the new kit is Etihad Airways securing the prime ‘front-of-shirt’ sponsorship. The airline, which was an Associate Sponsor in IPL 2024 with its logo on the back, has now uplifted its partnership by taking the center space on the jersey.
Meanwhile, CSK will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, following MS Dhoni’s stepping down from captaincy ahead of the 2024 season. With the legendary wicketkeeper-batter expected to play his final IPL season, fans are once again excited to see their favorite star. The Chennai-based franchise, who finished fifth in IPL 2024, retained Dhoni along with Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana. CSK will begin their campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 23 in a blockbuster El Clásico clash.

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) recently launched their brand-new jersey ahead of the upcoming season, making notable changes from their championship-winning kit last season. The use of gold has been significantly reduced, putting the main focus on the purple. Additionally, the new addition is the three-edged stars around the Gemini constellation.
The stars have been registered by the date that the team won each of the three titles (May 27, 2012; June 1, 2014; and May 26, 2024). Meanwhile, a gold IPL logo has been printed on the sleeve, a new addition introduced by the BCCI for defending champions. KKR’s jersey launch was done by integrating the number three in promotional activities. The reveal video featured players like Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, and Manish Pandey donning the new kit. Kolkata will play the tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at Eden Gardens.
