The Kolkata Knight Riders take on the Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in Match No. 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The Knight Riders are winless in their first three games, with their most recent one against the Punjab Kings getting washed out, where they got a point on the board to add to their tally.
The Kolkata-based franchise will be looking to get their campaign off the mark. The Lucknow Super Giants are coming into this clash in high spirits after their victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where they won a last-over thriller to clinch their maiden win of the ongoing nineteenth edition of the cash-rich tournament.
Here are 3 key player battles for KKR v LSG, Match 14 in IPL 2026:
3. Finn Allen vs Mohammed Shami

Finn Allen has come into IPL 2026 with a reputation of being one of the most destructive batters in the world. He has started the season well for the Knight Riders, scoring 71 runs at a blistering strike rate of 229. While his highest score of 37 means he has not been able to cash in after starts, the runs he adds at the top are vital, and KKR would be expecting him to make a big impact after their a few poor results.
If he is to have an impact, he is to combat the resurgent Mohammed Shami. The ace speedster has been threatening with the new ball, picking up key wickets in the games against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. His spell of 4-0-9-2 in Hyderabad was one of great skill and control, also dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in the powerplay. His battle with Allen will be one to watch.
2. Rinku Singh vs Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan has been one of the best death bowlers in the IPL. With his mixture of hard lengths, slower balls, and yorkers, he makes batters’ lives difficult in the back-end of the innings. He dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen, who was looking to make a move on after setting the platform for SRH after their early collapse.
Taking down Avesh will be the responsibility of Rionku Singh. With his late entry-points, he is sure to face much of Avesh’s bowling. The pair have met in three games, where Rinku has scored 35 runs off the 14 balls he has faced of Avesh’s bowling, and is yet to be dismissed.
1. Rishabh Pant vs Sunil Narine

Rishabh Pant would be glad to have got runs under his belt, as his unbeaten 68 was the backbone of SRH’s chase against LSG. While he was not at his fluent best, getting runs always plays a huge role in batters’ confidence. When he is at his destructive best, he is almost unstoppable, and if he gets going, the task of stopping him will be Sunil Narine’s
Narine missed KKR’s last game through illness but is expected to slot back into their team. With Vaun Chakravathy’s form under the scanner, he is expected to be the lead spinner and differential factor in KKR’s attack. In the nine innings the pair have played against each other, Pant has scored 52 runs in 46 balls against Narine. Despite the runs coming at an ordinary strike rate, Pant has yet to be dismissed by the spinner.
