The Mumbai Indians will take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The hosts will be eager to build momentum after a mixed start to their campaign.
Led by Hardik Pandya, MI have had an inconsistent run in the early stages of IPL 2026, winning one and losing two of their three matches so far. They started their campaign with a win against Kolkata Knight Riders and followed it up with a disappointing loss to Delhi Capitals in Delhi. MI slipped again in their most recent clash against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati.
With pressure gradually mounting, the five-time champions will be keen to register another win and gain some much-needed momentum. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will look to capitalise on MI’s inconsistencies and continue their push up the points table.
Here’s MI’s predicted Playing XI vs RCB in Match 20, IPL 2026
Top-order: Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Suryakumar Yadav

This Mumbai Indians top-order of Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton, and Suryakumar Yadav promises fireworks. It consists of three of the best power hitters going around in T20 cricket, but the performances have been mixed from them as of now. After MI’s match against KKR, Rohit, Rickelton and Suryakumar have struggled to give their team a strong start. Despite that, Hardik Pandya’s side will go in with the same top-three against RCB.
Middle-order: Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner

Mumbai Indians will go ahead with the middle-order of Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Naman Dhir against RCB, with Mitchell Santner coming in with his all-round skills. Tilak Varma has not had a great IPL 2026 so far with the bat, and the onus will be on him to deliver.
MI’s captain Hardik Pandya, too, is yet to arrive with the bat in the competition, having scored just 45 runs so far. Naman Dhir will be MI’s designated finisher with his power hitting. Santner is more than a handy batter and can contribute well. His bowling at the flat wicket of Wankhede will be crucial, too.
Bowlers: Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar, AM Ghazanfar

Bowling has been an issue for the five-time champions in IPL 2026 so far. Their main bowler Jasprit Bumrah has gone wicketless in all three matches, which has not helped MI. On a true Wankhede wicket, MI will need Bumrah to step-up.
He will be accompanied by Shardul Thakur, who had a brilliant game against KKR in Mumbai’s opening match. Afghanistan mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar has been a good pick for MI so far, and will feature in the playing XI. Left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar is expected to play against RCB.
MI’s predicted playing XI:
Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar, AM Ghazanfar
Impact Player: Sherfane Rutherford
