Most of them belong to the top teams in the world, as they have played more matches in the tournament. Tillakaratne Dilshan was exciting to watch due to his innovation in batting. The Sri Lankan opener was aggressive at the top as a batter. Even as a bowler, he was handy and often broke threatening partnerships. As a fielder, he was brilliant in ground fielding and catching. Dilshan won four Player of the Match awards in 35 T20 WC matches for Sri Lanka.

Shahid Afridi was the player of the tournament in Pakistan’s title-winning campaign in the T20 WC 2009. He could win the matches on his own both as a batter and as a bowler. The star player was a sensation in T20 cricket during his playing days. The all-rounder won four Player of the Match awards in 34 T20 WC matches for Pakistan.
5. Shane Watson
Shane Watson was an incredible match-winner for Australia. Till 2016, he was their premier all-rounder and possessed abilities to win matches as a batter and as a bowler. In the T20 World Cup 2012, he was the Player of the Tournament. The Australian played 24 matches and won 5 Player of the Matches for his side in the tournament.

4. Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle was way ahead of his time in T20 cricket. The Southpaw was a phenomenon and changed the way batters went about business in T20 cricket. In the T20 World Cups, he won a lot of matches for the West Indies all by himself. In 33 matches for the two-time champions, the star player won five Player of the Match awards.
3. Mahela Jayawardene
Mahela Jayawardene was the leading run-scorer in the T20 World Cup 2010. The right-handed batter could bat as an anchor and as an aggressive batter and make a difference. He played some impactful innings for Sri Lanka as a batter and was brilliant as a fielder. In 31 matches for Sri Lanka in the T20 WCs, he won five Player of the Match awards.

Adam Zampa has an insane rate of winning the Player of the Match awards in the T20 World Cups. He has played just 17 matches in the tournament but already has five Player of the Match awards to his name. In the T20 World Cup 2021, he was at his absolute best changing the games for his side with his spin bowling in the UAE.

Virat Kohli is the ultimate match-winner in the T20 World Cups. The star batter is the only player to win seven Player of the Match awards in the tournament. He has done it in 30 matches. For India, he was a solo performer as a batter in many matches. He can singlehandedly win matches for his side and come out on top against the best bowlers in the world.
